Leeyin Acoustics Project - Renovation of Nansha Toyota Gymnasium in 2017

1.Project Description

GAC Toyota Stadium is a multi-purpose sports general gymnasium,the museum is positioned as the indoor basketball hall, whose floor area is 2945 square meters, and designed with a fixed stage. Competition hall covers about 48060 cubic meters, so the acoustical design should meet the acoustic requirements of all kinds of small and medium-sized competitions, conferences, performances and ceremonies. The main acoustic design is clear language , full music, and no acoustic defects.

2.on site situation:

The existing gym uses calcium silicate board acoustic panels and polyester fiber sound-absorbing panels. Investigation found that some perforated calcium silicate board has been damaged, the polyester fiber acoustic panels are moldy in large area and easy to absorb dust on the surface, breeding bacteria and difficult to deal with health, and the materials are damp and deformed, which affect the overall appearance and sound-absorbing properties of materials.

4.Acoustic design goals

1)Full-frequency reverberation equalization, no obvious drop in frequency;

2)Sound distribution throughout the entire field is reasonable and uniform;

3)No acoustic focus problem;

4)No standing wave phenomenon;

5)Suitable for various competitions and sports activities,requires sound-proof material to have better impact resistance and wear resistance.

5. Determine reverberation time

According to the information provided by the customer, the indoor volume of the stadium is approximately 48,060 square meters, 1800 fixed auditoriums, each seat covers 26.7 square meters, architectural acoustics design is mainly to reasonably control the reverberation time and eliminate the interference of harmful reflections on hearing. According to the specific requirements and functional requirements of the museum, acoustic conditions have to meet functional requirements for all kinds of competitions, large conferences and performances. According to the customer's material selection and requirements, the following table of this project is used as the basis for building acoustic design.

6.Transform Program

After removing the original wall body calcium silicate perforated board and polyester fiber, the wall uses 128*2440*15mm thick 13-3 wood acoustic board, use area of about 3726 square meters, to solve the low frequency reverberation time in the field; more than 150 from the wall cavity keel support filled with 50mm thick 48K glass fiber cotton, the outer is wrapped with glass fiber cloth, use gun nails to install. 7. Important Instructions

After the completion of the renovation project of the wooden sound-absorbing panels in the stadium, the acoustic effect of the stadium should not be lower than the existing acoustic effect before improvement. Sound-absorbing panels improvement project doesn't damage the existing facilities, such as: fire-fighting facilities, electrical outlets, ducts and other facilities).

According to the auditorium position, T1-T8 test points are selected, and the test points reflect the reverberation time of the auditorium in the area.

3. Test conclusion

1/3 frequency conversion 1/1 octave band data,reverberation time for T1-T8 point tested at empty seated superimpose with the reverberation time at 80% full seated designed by our company, the reverberation time value is very close to the upper limit of the initial acoustic design. Considering that the test is empty field data, it does not consider the audience's absorption of sound energy. Reverberation time will be further reduced when 80% full seated, 500-1000Hz reverberation time improvement is in 0.3 seconds or more, about 1.6-1.7 seconds. The reverberation time falls within the designed area, which meets design requirements.
